How to Setup a Home Based Business

There are countless ways to setup a home business. For the scope of this article I will cover setting up an online based business.

There are only a couple of things that you need to startup a home based business online.

In this post I will explain the basics. EVery online work at home business consists of a website and products. That is it in it’s simplest form.

Firstly the website, to setup your own website you need a domain name. This is the .com of your business. The name of this website is freeadvertz.com. I also own a domain called malkeenan.com (Mal Keenan is my name). It usally costs around $10 per year to register a domain name. You can get a domain name from Godaddy.com

Once you have the domain name you need a web host to host this domain. Basically, these are large servers that never go offline. So, with a website hosting service, your business remains online 24 hrs. Click here to checkout an affordable hosting company.

Once you have your domain name and hosting account then you need to put some web pages online. The content of your site will depend on the topic that you have chosen or the type of business that you are interested in.

I personally sell home business and internet marketing related products, so the vast majority of the content on my sites is information that I believe will attract prospects interested in internet marketing.

You need to choose what type of market you want to go into. For instance, if you wanted to sell pet products then you would setup a website to suit this market and add relevant content.

What type of at home business are you interested in?

My experience shows that you could setup a website on almost any topic imaginable and make money from it - even if only by selling the advertising space of your site. Obviously, the more popular your website becomes the more advertisers you will attract and the more money you will make.

My idea for a home based business started way back in 1998 when I discovered that it was ACTUALLY possible to make money online. Before that it would never have crossed my mind to set up my own small business online.

Remember, this was way back when it was still possible to send an email and have it delivered and read too. Things were quite in the early years of the WWW and it WAS a whole lot easier to make a living from a home business.

I was part-time back then and making a few extra dollars per month to supplement my offline income. I was finally able to work from home full-time in 2004.

The purpose of my blog and this post is to inform you that it is entirely possible for the average person to setup their own, genuine work at home business that will surpass and exceed their current income. I am an average guy and I’m doing it so that should be proof enough

Of course you shouldn’t listen only to me but do your own research. Through doing this you willfind that there are many thousands of ordinary Joes and Sallys in the U.S, U.K and indeed throughout the world earning a residual monthly income from the comfort of their own homes.

So if you have the notion to get started with your own part-time or full-time work at home job then there should be no stopping you. Treat your new enterprise and a serious undertaking, just like you would an offline business.

I am engaged in a bona-fide business. This takes time, work and yes - investment . If someone tells you that you are going to make $1000s and it won’t cost you a penny then run a mile. Sure, you can dip your toe into the home business world for free - in fact I promote some free to join business opportunities myself - BUT there is always some investment to be made further down the line IF you are serious.

Make a Residual Income Online

Through the many 100s of visitors I get to my home based business websites on a monthly basis, the vast majority are looking for easy ways to make extra income from home.

Many are totally fed up with the commute to work. They hate working for a boss just like I did.

Some want to spend more time with their familes. Still others would like that little extra to make life more comfortable.

The good news is that making a residual income online is entirely achievable if you follow some simple steps and are prepared to put in a little time, effort and occasionally invest a little money.

When I say residual, I mean you put in the work one time and the payoff continues month after month.

How is this possible? Well, I am an affiliate marketer. I sell other peoples’ products and services for commissions. Many times the people who signup for the companies I am an affiliate for, pay a monthly subscription for the service(Web hosting, for example). So, every month when the company charge the client they pay me a cut of that fee. So I get paid for as long as the client remains a customer. Understand?

The above is just one example, for one company. Can you imagine how the income can add up if you refer many clients across many different companies.

When you consider that most companies throughout the net now have affiliate programs in place - from Amazon through to small-time internet businesses - you can see the potential for supplementing your current income.

Anyone can do this either part-time or full-time. You can spend as little or as much time on it as you like. When you don’t work for the boss anymore, you don’t have to clock in, there are no time cards - so you basically get to work your home business as you see fit.

This business is suited to work at home moms AND dads.

Top 10 Home Based Businesses

One of my team members recently asked me to compile a list of my top ten most popular and successful work at home businesses and I have to be honest I was not able to. Why?

Well, I tend to only give advice or recommendations when I have direct experience in that which I am recommending. With hand on heart I have not been involved with 10 home businesses that I would feel comfortable recommending others to join.
