My AMAZING Home Based Business

What I do find absolutely astounding about my work at home business is just how automated it has become.

It’s actually a dream come true. I am not a millionaire but the fact that I can make a great income from home without having to actually be present as the money comes in is still a fantastic testament to how AMAZING the internet is.

I cannot see how this would have been possible before the dawn of the WWW. Sure, people have a lot of freedom in offline business now and in the past but it has usually been achieved by having others work for them, doing the hard graft on their behalf.

What makes my automated enterprise all the more amazing is that I don’t have any employees.

The nature of my business is such that everything is automated from the followup process to the sale down to the check arriving in my mailbox. The only thing I have to do is cash the check. No, hold on, in fact, many times I don’t even have to do that. A lot of the affiliate programs which I am an agent send me Paypal payment and with a click or two of my mouse Paypal will deposit the money earned straight into my bank account. How’s that for automation?

How EXACTLY does this automation work?

My websites are online 24 hrs per day. The search engines send visitors to my site. Most don’t buy immediately but a % will add themselves to one of my mailing lsit. This add their details to an automated followup email system which will email them periodically with more information about work at home business and how they can get started.

Sooner or later the prospect will signup for my business, product or service. The product or service owner is then paid. From that payment they calculate my commissions and send the payment via check or to my paypal account.

Real Work at Home Jobs

Did you say ‘JOB’???

When I hear the word ‘job’ I almost certainly think of that place I used to be 4-5 years ago where I got up at 7:30am every morning and dreaded another day - working for a measly few hundred dollars per month.

Do you know that feeling? I’m sure you do otherwise you most likely wouldn’t be at this site searching for an alternative to the 9-5 nightmare - or even worse the shift-work nightmare.

The opportunities that I have to offer are definitely not jobs.

It has been said that a job stops being a job when it is fun to do. That is the case when you are successful with your own home based business.

There are many work at home ideas to help you get started online. It is very important though that you are very clear on what exactly is involved. I am currently part of a mentorship group called the Pipspowergroup and one of the most important things we do is let our members know that owning your own succesful home business requires hard work and much persistence.

It also takes careful planning and a willingness to set some time aside everyday to promote your website.

The reason we need to tell our members this over and over is because many have been disillusioned by the hype and promises of quick riches online. From work at home moms, to students, to retired senior citizens, many fall for the BS.

There is a system though that if adhered to consistently will produce results. You just need to know the system and to have the determination and discipline to follow through. You see when you see the net just like any other sales place then there are certain things you MUST do to grow your business. The most important thing is to provide leads on a regular basis. A business without leads is dead.

We get these leads through drawing regular traffic to our websites which have been carefully put together to gain the maximum benefits from each visitor. This takes tweaking of course. What worked a couple of years ago will not work so good today, if at all.

Once we have the visitors and the leads we have to have an opprotunity or product to show to them. If you don’t have anything to sell then you don’t make money online. The good news is that you can become an affiliate marketer and sell other peoples products or services for commissions. This is how many online entrepreneurs make their money, including myself. There are literally 1000s of affiliate programs online to choose from.

Help Starting a Home Business

For the purposes of this blog post I am going to show how easy it is getting top ranking for keyword phrases that have little competition in the search engines.

The keyword I have chosen for this purpose is the term ‘help starting a home business’. The actual term was ‘help starting a business’ but I have added ‘home’ into the equation because that is the field that we work in.

Choosing the right keywords is a very important aspect of setting up any online business. You may think that such terms will have little or no traffic. It’s true that they may get little traffic but if they are appearing in the list of search terms that you have queried through certain keyword utilities then someone is searching google and the other major SEs using these phrases.

At this point I am just writing a blog post and already I have used the main keyword phrase, ‘help starting a home business’ a couple of times. You may also want to add variations of the keyword phrase like, ‘help getting started online’.

I copy the keywords into the tags fields at the bottom of my posts because I use a tool called Auto Social Poster to automatically post each of my blog articles to over 30 Social Bookmarking sites using the tags I put in the tag fields.

It also adds weight to your keyword phrases by adding bolding to your phrases as I have just done.

I usually write a blog post of between 400-600 words.

It has to be said that this strategy will not work on a brand new blog. You have to have already added some unique content to your blog over a period of around 1-2 months. I have used this strategy on blogs as little as 4 weeks old and have seen results.

I am confident that I will see a top ranking in the major search engines for this keyword phrase ‘help starting a home business’ in as little as 2-3 days.

Employment or Work at Home?

Which would you prefer? To make a living from your own living-room, taking time off when you feel like it. Have as many coffee breaks as you like. Paid holidays 12 times per year, if you like.

You can work part-time or full-time. You can start at any age. If you’re a student or a work at home mom then you are highly suited to this business too.

If actually given the choice there are few who would choose the 9-5 job over working at home on the computer.

The benefits of working for yourself from home are numerous. The few I mentioned above are some examples but there are many more.

The greatest thing that I get from this business is FREEDOM! I just never had it before. I used to absolutely dread Sundays, just because I had to go to work the next day. I don’t believe I was ever suited to work for a boss.

Society tells us that we go to our places of employment for 40-50 years of our lives, collecting measly paychecks, many times just about covering our monthly bills. Then, as the joke goes, we die

Is this how you want to continue? I think not, or you wouldn’t be at ths page, looking for a better way.

There is actually a way to earn money online collecting a residual checks every month, possibly from numerous companies. Maybe you’ve heard of affiliate marketing. This involves a process of signing up for different legitimate online companies and selling their products for commissions. I have been doing this for 8-9 years now, 4 of those as a full-time affiliate marketer.

It actually took me 5 years to build my business to a stage where I could give up my secure offline employment. So, I can’t claim to be an overnight success. Who cares, now that I am where I’m at .

Owning your own home based business requires commitment, careful planning and continued hard work. That’s why most people never make it to become successful online business owners. Of course, when they fail, many of those who entered this enterprise with unrealistic notions, go on to claim ‘SCAM’! The opportunity takes the blame rather than the individual.

There are literally 1000s of online business opportunities that are genuine and through which you could earn a significant income. When choosing one you should do your own research to find if others are actually making money. The business should be one that has been in business for a sustained period. Many online companies come and go, and quite quickly.

If a business has been growing for at least a year and it has a proven track record with many satisfied customers and sales agents or affiliates, then it is worth a second look. You should also check that they pay on time and everytime.

As stated above, I am an affiliate marketer and you can be too. You don’t need to own your own products to be highly successful online.

Number One Top Reason Why People Fail to Build a Successful Work at Home Business

There is only one EVER reason I see that people fail to make a success of their online home businesses and that is that they GIVE UP!

Why is this and more importantly what can be done to stop it?

So, inevitably when the instant riches fail to materialise the disillusioned, wannabe work at home entrepreneur, moves on to the next latest super duper system that is going to make their fortune. And so it goes until they finally give up in total disgust and bitterness - for some at least.

Can You Start a Home Business with NO Money?

Yes, it is possible to start a home based business with no cash down but I ask you, how realistic is it to expect to start any business without capital?

You wouldn’t expect to start an offline business without at least saving a little cash investment.

I personally use some free resources to promote my business websites but when I got started I expected to spend some money, and I did.

If you are truly serious about your new work at home business then please expect to invest money, somewhere along the line.

If you would like to get started for free then there are businesses like SFI that you can join free of charge. Then when you start to earn some cash you should reinvest this cash in resources to grow your business.

With the free option you can also expect to spend a lot more time to make progress. What you don’t spend in cash you WILL spend in time. I prefer to spend the cash as I value my time a lot more than the investment required.

All this said, I do understand that there will be people out there who are fully committed to starting a home business that just do not have the capital available. If you are in this category then please expect to spend at least a few hours daily submitting your site to free resources, like free classified sites, craigslist and other free resources.

I cannot think of any better way to get started with a home business than by joining and marketing affiliate programs. Ok, I may be a little biased because this is how I make my living but I believe that anyone honestly searching to establish a credible business online will find affiliate marketing very attractive.

What other business can you think of where you can virtually put the whole thing on auto-pilot? Sure, you can gain a lot of freedom by setting up your own products and marketing them online but you still have to worry about product delivery, aftersales support etc. etc.

When you are an affiliate marketer - selling other people products for commissions - you don’t deal with any of the above. The merchant or product owner deals with all the ins and outs of the business. Your only job is to market the product and collect your commission check.

Commissions on digital products like ebooks and software are usally processed by one of the big online merchant accounts like Clickbank.com. Clickbank allows you to take your affiliate link with which to make sales. They then track and split the sale price between you and the merchant and send you a check once every two weeks.

There is nothing better than coming back from holiday and finding checks in your mailbox that have been made while you basked in the sun. This has happened to me on a number of occasions and is not just hype.

Think about it! Your marketing, through having your own website or otherwise, is out there in cyberspace, viewable 24/7 365 days per year. It sells whether you are there or not.

Don’t mistake this for a get rich quick scheme. That, it is not. There is some initial work to be done and you do need to put in some time daily to maintain your business BUT the freedom that this business affords me is unimaginable.

For a start, I don’t have to leave my home to make my living. I can also take my laptop to virtually any country in the world that has an internet connection and make money. It was this concept that initially attracted me to making money online and empowered me to NEVER give up until I have found success.

Working at Home - Not All Good

Working from home isn’t easy. You know, it’s quite a chore to have to drag yourself out of bed at 10, 11am and switch on the laptop or P.C

Seriously though, when you work from home you need to have discipline to actually get on the job. That’s the reason that many work at home entrepreneurs set up offices outside their own homes. This gives them the feeling of actually going to work and makes disciplining all the easier.

It is not too uncommon for those in the home based business world to idle away days and even weeks without getting much real work done at all. One of the most exciting aspects of working entirely online is the ability to take your laptop anywhere in the world and bring your already made income with you. All you need to do is change the postal address on the account page of those who pay you, be it clickbank or Paypal and you will receive your check to your new address.

I have been making a full-time income from affiliate programs and get paid by many different companies so it may take me a couple of hours to change all the addresses but hey, am I going to complain?
