Google Sitemaps - How important are they?

Saturday, September 30th, 2006

There is no denying that Google is the king of the hill when it comes to search engines. A fairly decent page ranking in Google is worth so much more than a better showing in other less prominent search engines. The reason for this is the overwhelming popularity of Google. A vast majority of internet users use Google’s services in looking for quality content on the internet. With the large number of people using it, a high page rank acts a great advertising opportunity for your website.

Because of the astounding amount of websites that submit their web pages to Google, the think tanks at Google decided to come out with Google Sitemaps. This service, which was started in June 2005, makes web page submissions to Google much easier but with the added bonus of getting detailed reports regarding the submitted page’s visibility in Google. With Google Sitemaps webmasters can continually inform Google about their web pages as well as any changes that they make to help improve their standing in Google. This program serves as complementary service to Google’s regular crawl, although it is considered that using Google Sitemaps can do a better job than the regular crawl.

Google decided to come out with the Google Sitemaps program as a way for the search engine to offer better search results to its users. With the current limitations of web crawling, usually not all pages are discovered. It is also difficult to determine if a page has changed. With so many uncontrollable variables, crawlers sometimes just make guesses. With Google Sitemaps it becomes easier to get a better picture of all the possible URLs in a website as well as the frequency of the changes that are made. Knowing these variables makes searching in Google a more robust and fruitful experience because users are assured that they always get a fresh index of web pages.

To take advantage of the Google Sitemap program, webmasters only need to download a free open-source tool called Sitemap Generator that helps in creating a Sitemap using the Sitemap protocol. Google hopes that webservers will eventually support the protocol so that webmasters will not take any other extra steps to in order to join the program.

Google Sitemaps also freely accepts codes taken from or generated by third party providers and even lists down all of the available third party software within the Google Sitemap pages.

XML-Sitemaps.com is one such provider that provides a free Google sitemaps generator for webmasters which will also produce a HTML site map.

Google’s software and service developers are continually tweaking and improving the Google Sitemap program to better address the needs of webmasters. Because of this, new features are continually added to the Sitemap program.

Some of the new features that have been incorporated now revolve around the reporting aspect of Google Sitemap.

When a site has been verified, Google can show webmasters the statistics and errors about the website as well as the web pages. Among the information that would be included are:

* The URLs that Google had trouble crawling including the reason why. Also included are the top queries that resulted in returns from their websites as well as those that brought traffic to their sites.

* The web page’s PageRank distribution

* The common text in external anchors that other websites used to link to their websites.

These new features, as well as others that are still being developed, brings tremendous advantages for webmasters because it makes the task of running a website so much easier. It also simplifies certain tasks that webmasters need to do to better manage their website’s page ranking. Ultimately, it gives their websites better exposure as well as the inclusion of more of their web pages in Google’s index.

Philip Nicosia is the webmaster of XML-Sitemaps.com which provides a free Google sitemap generator which will also produce a Yahoo sitemap and HTML site map for webmasters.

Is higher Google PageRank (PR), the Higher You’ll be in the Search Results ?

Wednesday, September 27th, 2006

This myth is frequent, and is the source of many complaints. People often notice that a site with a lower PageRank than theirs is listed above them, and get upset. While pages with a higher PageRank do tend to rank better, it is perfectly normal for a site to appear higher in the results listings even though it has a lower PageRank than competing pages.

To explain this concept without going into too much technical detail, it is best to think of PageRank as being comprised of two different values. One value, which we’ll call "General PageRank" is nothing more than the weighting given to the links on your page. This is also the value shown in the Google Toolbar. This value is used to calculate the weighting of the links leaving your page, not your search position.

The other value we’ll call "Specific PageRank." You see, if PageRank equated to search engine results rank then Yahoo, the site with the highest PR, would be listed #1 for every search result. Obviously, that wouldn’t be useful, so what Google does is examine the context of your incoming links, and only those links that relate to the specific keyword being searched on will help you achieve a higher ranking for that keyword. It’s very possible for a site with a lower PageRank to in fact have more on-topic incoming links than a site with a higher PageRank, in which case the site with a lower PageRank will be listed above its competitor in the search results for that term.

PageRank aside, there are also other factors that contribute Google search results — though PageRank remains the dominant one.

Google is Not the Only Phone Company in Town!

Sunday, September 24th, 2006

If your sales depend only on Google traffic and Google adsense or adwords then you could be in for a big dissapointment. Constant search engine rankings can make or break you. I know. I’ve been there. Riding high on Google rankings then dropping like a 2 ton rock in the Altlantic ocean.

Do NOT put all your eggs in one basket. There are several other ways to drive traffic to your site and depending on just one, like Google, is just plain bad marketing efforts.

Yahoo, Yahoo’s YPN, and other search engines along with pay-per-click programs can bring you extra traffic and maybe even more sales.

I currently have Google Adsense and Yahoo’s YPN ads on my site and I can tell you right now that Yahoo’s YPN is paying me THREE times the amount that Adsense is paying. Why? Not sure, because both ads are featured on the same based keywords. I divided pages up equally between Adsense ads and YPN ads and Yahoo is the “bigger Daddy”.

“He who only puts one iron in the fire will not set the world alight”

Distribute your advertising in several different ways. Test, test, then test again. Optimize your pages for good content and keyword density and then let the search engines gobble that. DON’T optimize your pages for Google only. You might number 1 today and then number 378 as soon as they have their next algorythm change. Nothing they do is “personal”, but it sure fells like it when they dig in your pocket after all the work you did to make THEM happy. What I don’t understand is why Google is constantly changing except that it gives engineers something to do for those hefty paychecks. If it ain’t broke, why fix it? Google is constantly “fixing” a well oiled machine.

The other day I was searching for business loans and the first few pages were all listings from the UK even though I was on the main search engine, and not the Google.uk. If I had wanted a loan, I had to search several pages deep to find on in the US.

Pay per click sites:

1. Yahoo! Search Marketing has a well organized system.

2. Miva distributes your keyword text ads throughout a distribution partner network.

3. GoClick no monthly fee, no startup fee, and low 1 cent CPC

4. 7Search results appear in over 35% of the top 150 search engines

5. Kanoodle has partnerships with sites CNET, DogPile, NetZero and more

6. Search123 sports some cool tools to help you control your pay-per-click budget.

There are MANY other search engines and advertising opportunities for you out there. Just look around to find them. After awhile you will see that Google is not the only phone company in town even though they act like it!

Stinking Linking Thinking

Thursday, September 21st, 2006

How many times have you heard “A link has to have this PR or that PR to be of value” or “link only to relevant sites” and a myriad of other “Expert” advice on the value of links and reciprocal links?

As a webmaster myself I am grew increasingly weary of hearing how “important” my links were in the eyes of a search engine. Now this may sound brave or stupid of me but believe me when I say it is neither. I could not give a FLYING HOOT how important Google, Yahoo, MSN or the “Gurus” think my sites are and I don’t care what my PR is.

Am I completely nuts? Not at all, you see my sites have plenty of traffic without me needing to worry about search engines. Sure I can always use more who can’t? But I am making a very good living and without a big advertising budget or spending hours and hours on SEO.

Why do I say that I don’t care how important search engines think my sites are? Because in 6 years as a webmaster and webhost, Google, Yahoo or MSN have NEVER signed up for any of my mailing lists, they have NEVER bought a product from me and they have NEVER joined as a member of any of my sites.

The opinion that matters to me is the opinion of my visitors. It is PEOPLE who buy my products and services and not search engines. If they like my site they may even recommend it to their friends. That is what I care about!

It is nothing more than logical common sense therefore that if I want PEOPLE to visit my site I need to get links to my sites in front of REAL PEOPLE! Even Google themselves say “Build your site for visitors not search engines”

As webmasters we all need to stop the stinking linking thinking and focus on what the REAL value of a link is. This is not rocket science, links are valuable if they bring visitors period! One variable, one consideration it’s really simple.

In the last few years with all the SEO hype and advice links directories have disappeared to the bottom of pages, featured only with tiny text links. Or worse they have been renamed “resources” or “partners” in the hope they will not be interesting to surfers.

What’s the point in that? Come on think logically, again is Google bot going to sign up? NO! Is Google bot going to buy? NO! So what is the point in going to the time and effort of putting your link on another site if only a bot can find it?

Oh that’s right! It will improve your search engine rankings and bring you thousands of visitors. WILL IT? Are you at the top of all the major search engines for several popular keywords and getting thousands of visitors a day from them? If you are congratulations! I hope you are still there when the search engines change their algorithms next month.

My guess is if you are reading this article you are not at the top of the search engines, but you are still hiding your links away and following the advice of the SEO world, and praying for that holy grail of a first page search engine placement.

Why webmasters hide their links is beyond me completely. What exactly are they scared of? That someone may leave their site and go to another site? I have news for you, that’s what internet users do, they go from site to site it’s how the web works.

I have more news for you, EVERY page of your site at the top right has a little “X” that will take people from your site. EVERY page of your site top left has a home button that will take people away from your site. And those two things you can do NOTHING about unless you are the creator of Internet Explorer, Firefox or all the other web browsers.

Wait! I have even more news, the one SURE THING about ALL visitors to your site is that they ARE leaving. I don’t care how hot your site is, I don’t care how great your product or service is. I am not staying on your site for ever and neither is anyone else not even you!

These days I personally choose (and believe me I learned this the hard way by giving up a lot of traffic to follow the advice of the SEO “Gurus”) to put my links directory right there in my main page, and on EVERY page where it can be seen easily by my visitors. You see as people leave my site I do have a choice where to send them. By hiding my link section I would by default send ALL of them back to Google or Yahoo or what ever search engine they use. I choose to send SOME of them to other websites, websites who like me appreciate the free visitors and in return send me some of their departing visitors.

If you are hiding away your links make no mistake you ARE sending your departing visitors back to search engines. Search engines who give you NOTHING in return. Maybe you even pay them to advertise now that’s sensible send them all your visitors free of charge and pay for some of theirs.

If you were to show your link section clearly, and I have a link on your site there is a good chance they may come to me instead. And IF you show your link section clearly I will certainly return that favor and send you some of my departing visitors.

How I get traffic to my sites is nothing new, it is not some “AMAZING new traffic system”, it doesn’t cost anything and it certainly doesn’t require a lot of maintenance once set up. It is based on how the web has always worked, links and people.

That has never changed, my guess is you are just not utilizing that method any more. I made the same mistake and gave it up for a while too. By hiding your links you are reducing the number of visitors you get now, in the hope of thousands of visitors later. Personally I’d rather have 300 visitors a day from my links now than a “Maybe” of 20,000 a day some time in the distant future.

You can take or leave this article as you please. If you are an SEO “Guru” or “expert” please do not email me I do not want to hear from you. SEO doesn’t work apart from for a tiny percentage of websites. Even if it does it offers only temporary results at best. I have been there and done that. The FACT is even IF I get to the top of the search engines after a lot of hard work or financial investment you CAN NOT guarantee I will stay there. These days Google and other search engines are changing the way they order their results far too regularly to make SEO a valid investment of my time or money.

A dating site I once owned was at number 3 in Google for term “free dating” after some very long hard work optimizing the site. Then in an instant the traffic stopped when Google changed their algorithms in the famous Florida update and left my site on page 56 of the results. It is simply NOT a good business sense to invest time or money in results over which you have no control.

These days I have hundreds of visible links on other sites and unless Google can shut down the internet there is NOTHING they can do or change that will affect the traffic from those links. To me at least that makes a LOT more sense for my business and is a much better investment of my time.

I will tell all of you reading this article that I am currently spending a LOT of time working with webmasters AND web users to stop this rot. You see I re-discovered something very simple and very effective that works. It benefits all my sites AND internet users as a whole, so you can be sure I am going to share those findings not only with other webmasters but with surfers too.

I have written e-books and articles aimed at both groups of people, and have little armies of both types growing in numbers daily. So pretty soon those surfers will know about your hidden links (if you are hiding them) and use them anyway. The sad thing is if you don’t fix your Stinking Linking Thinking and bring your links directory out of the bowels of your site, the chances are you will not get a link on the websites of webmasters who are showing their links and once again starting to work together instead of competing for a first page search engine listing.

The choice my friend is yours. You can link for traffic or you can link for the “Maybe some day in the future first page listing” that you have NO control over.

My advice is simple, invest in a decent links program to set up your links directory properly and get active exchanging links with sites who are SHOWING not hiding their link directories. They are out there if you look for them and they are growing in number.

Forget site relevance, how do you know what is relevant to a visitor? Do you know all your visitors personally? Do you have some mind reading script I don’t know about? Just because they are on your widget site doe not mean they are not a keen fisherman and not interested in a fishing site.

Link to any quality site that will make your link accessible to people. Give your departing visitors choice of sites, they are interested in more than one thing! A varied links directory is a very useful resource to your visitors as they leave.

The advice from Google to link to “relevant” sites has always puzzled me. How useful would Google be if it followed its own advice and only linked to other search engines and those search engines only linked to other search engines? Does their advice make sense? Hell no!

By getting just 3 new visible links a day on other sites, will mean over 1000 links pointing to your site by the end of a year, links that can and will be found by real people. Does that sound like hard work to you? 3 new links a day? It takes much less thinking about than algorithms, keyword density, alt tags, meta tags, trends and SEO. It also produces results and leaves you free to concentrate on the people who matter, your visitors!

Finally one last bit of news for you. If you exchange quality visible links with other sites that PEOPLE can find, guess who else will find them? That’s right Google, Yahoo and MSN so you may well do better in search engines as a result, but whether you do or not you WILL get visitors.

In closing please do not get me wrong. I am not against search engines at all! I use Google daily, it is a very useful tool. What I AM against is giving them complete control over my sites traffic. What I am also against is the dreams being sold by the SEO world, and thats what they are dreams with BIG odds of success and temporary results.

Understand this! Search engines do not like SEO either. They want to deliver accurate results to surfers not the best optimized pages. If search engines dont deliver accurate results surfers stop using them and they don’t get to sell the advertising that makes them their profit.

That is why Google and other engines are constantly changing their algorithms to combat SEO tricks. SEO has just become too complicated and too temporary in its results to make it viable.

Dump your stinking linking thinking people, start working with and not competing with other sites and start getting visited.

Master Resell Rights Are Important ! 13 Reasons Why !

Monday, September 18th, 2006

Master Resell Rights and Resell Rights. These jargons currently have become a hot topic in Internet Marketing and you can easily find it almost everywhere on the net.

Even some of Today’s Internet Marketing Giants are doing it. Corey Rudl, Marlon Sanders and Terry Dean to name a few. But what do they mean? Why are they important for your effort to make more money online?

When you purchase Master Resell Rights to Software, Scripts, Tools and other packages it means that you have the right not only to sell it to your customers, but also to give your customers the rights to sell it to theirs.

And you have 2 options here: You can sell them the Master Resell Rights or just the Resell Rights.

If you choose the second option, then your customers can only sell the product and their customers do not have the right to resell it.

What I’m explaining below is the advantage of having a Quality e-Books and Software with Master Resell Rights.

So, why is it important for your life and bank account?

(1) Because you can have your own mass demanded informational products not in months. Not in weeks. Not even in days. But in hours.

(2) Because you can sell those high quality ebooks with resell rights to your customers individually or in a package and you keep 100% of the money.

(3) Because you can set-up your own unique package that contains high quality ebooks and software with resell rights which cannot be found anywhere else on the net.

(4) Because you can be your own boss. Not just an employee of a “9 to 5″ company.

(5) Because you can offer valuable bonus to your site visitors to subscribe to your ezine, newsletter or mailing list. (I get 100+ new subscribers a week just doing this one trick.)

(6) Because it provides you with fantastic ROI (Return of Investment) rate which is unheard of in real world. Let me explain. Let’s say you buy a giant ebook package with resell rights. You can sell the package as is and with one sale you reach your BEP (Break Even Point). The second sale brings you 100% profit. You make 11 sales, you gain 1,000% profit! Amazing, isn’t it?

(7) Because you can sell it as many as you want. As long as you want. You buy once, you can sell it for life!

(8) Because you can impress your family, your wife or husband, your friends and colleagues. Even your girlfriend or boyfriend. (Hey, you are somebody now. You OWN a legitimate and respectable business. It’s YOUR NAME on the site. Not the authors!)

(9) Because You can save money with it. Let’s say somebody just launches a new paid membership site that you want to join or a new eBook that you want to get. Just approach the owner and offer him/her a barter. You can barter an individual eBook or software with resell rights or you can barter the whole package! It’s up to you. It’s a win-win situation. Most likely, you’ll get what you want.

(10) Because you can now treat your Affiliate Programs as your “back end” products.

(11) Because you can boost your Affiliate Program sales by offering your prospects BIG BONUSES which they cannot get even from the main site!

(12) Because you can make your neighbor jealous. (Oooops! Kidding. Let’s pretend that I never wrote this point 12 and you never read it! LOL!)

(13) Because you can use your own imagination and creativity to come up with things I haven’t mentioned here, to make more money with your own giant package of ebooks and software with Master Resell Rights.

Well, folks, I believe you get the picture. Good luck!

Displyaing RSS Feeds on Your Web Page

Friday, September 15th, 2006

RSS feeds have made it very convenient to syndicate information from various sources. Most of websites and services that publish fresh content, such as ezines, press release, new agencies, blogs make their content available thru RSS feeds. As new content is published the RSS feed gets updated automatically.

Adding RSS feeds to web pages has many advantages. Let us say you have added RSS feeds from a popular ezine on one of your web pages.

• The content of the web page is automatically updated as the ezine makes new content available via RSS feeds. Every time search engine spiders crawl your web page they are likely to find the web page updated.

• The visitors to your web site will also find new content on every visit and they might be tempted to visit your web page more often.

• You do not have to bother about writing fresh content as RSS feeds are updated automatically.

Earlier I had written an article on adding RSS feeds to a web page using java script. While this method makes fresh content available to the readers, the content of the feed cannot be “read” by search engine spiders. Therefore the web page does not get the benefit of changing content from the search engines.

On the other hand php based installation makes it possible for spiders to notice the changing content of the web page. This article is a follow-up of my previous article which outlines simple steps to put RSS feeds on a web page.

For the purpose of this article I have chosen the free version of software available from CaRP. The software can be downloaded from this site:

http://www.geckotribe.com/rss/carp/

The instruction manual which comes with the package gives detailed instructions for installing and running the software. Additional information is available from the site. While there are several options available for using the software, I am showing here the simplest steps to load and run the software:

1. Download the software on your computer. It comes in a zip file. After unzipping save the available folders and files on your computer. These files and folders will be available – carp (folder), img (folder), carpsetup.php, README.html .

2. Upload all the files and folders to the root directory of your website. This can be done by using FTP. If uploading is done file by file, ensure that the names of the files and folders, and location of files in their folders do not change.

3. Create a new mySQL database.

4. Run the setup file carpsetup.php from you web browser.

5. A new page will be displayed. On this page select mySQL database option which is easier of the two options given there.

6. Another new page will open in which you have to fill the details of mySQL database. Click on “Create Database Tables”.

7. The page which opens now will have code which has to be put on the web page where you want to show RSS feed. The code will be displayed in a gray box.

8. Within the code there is “setup code”. This setup code should be pasted into a file called carpconf.php . The file will be available in carp directory. On the html script of this file locate the line “//Add configuration code that applies to all themes here” . Just below this line paste the setup code.

9. Choose a web page where RSS feed has to be displayed. The file name of the page should have .php extension. If your page has .html or .htm extension, you can try replacing only the extension with .php . Normally this should not change the way the page appears in a web browser. If you encounter any problem you could make a new web page with .php extension.

10. At appropriate location of the web page, where you want RSS feed to be displayed, paste the code in the html script of the page. From there you can remove the setup code. It is not required to be added to all pages once it has been added to carpconf.php page in step 8 above.

11. If you now open your web page in the web browser it will start showing the RSS feed which comes along with the package. For changing this to RSS feed of your choice you will need to make changes in the code you have entered in step 10. In the code there is a URL after CarpCasheShow. Change this URL with the URL of RSS feed you wish to display.

Now the web page will display the RSS feed of your choice. You can choose to display more feeds on the same page or have separate pages for RSS feeds for different sources.

You can see this page on my website on which RSS feeds have been added using exactly the steps shown here.

http://www.sanjay-j.com/RSSFILE/homebusinesspop.php

You can see some more pages from the links on left column of this page.

I have tried to make the process easy to follow. You can always refer to more detailed instructions which come with the package. Take advantage of the free content available and use them to boost your page positioning and traffic to your website.

Learn How To Get Your Articles In the Directories Without Being A Spammer

Tuesday, September 12th, 2006

Submitting articles to Article directories on the internet is an effective way to get more traffic to your websites. There are a few problems with this system that I will point out so that you can become more proficient in this strategy.

The weakness of the article submitting techniques is that it is very time consuming. I have submitted articles in three different ways: by Hand, and with Article Submitter and Article Submitter Pro software. Many directories require a login (ID and password) so each directory must be visited and a login established before submissions are accepted.

When submitting by hand, you have to cut and paste each section of the article into the individual directories. There are a lot of sections; first the Title, then the Category (very important – I’ll get into this later), Author, Author email, Website Address, Keywords, Article Summary, Article Body, and About Author box. That is nine cut and pastes to submit to ONE article directory. If you wish to submit to 150-200 directories, a good part of your time is spent doing grunt work which does not allow you to pursue other avenues of traffic generation.

Now we come to the “semi-automated” submission software programs. Yes, they are easier, some more than others, but you still must go to each directory individually. It is crucial that you select a Category for your article. If this is not done the article directories will know you are using automatic submitting software and will treat your article as SPAM. Many directories especially frown on the “Automated Article Distribution Services” like iSnare, and Article Automater, for just that reason. Therefore you will not be published and not only have you wasted your time writing your article but you may be classified as a spammer.

Within the “Article Submitter” Software, they have 138 auto fill and 25 manual fill directories listed. A visit to a majority of the directories must be done first in order to establish a login. You have the option of adding other article directories on your own, which is a nice touch.

The software will open to a page that is a form for “User Information”. Typical information requirements you would find in any sign up sheet like, name, company, email, website, etc. Then hit the tab for “Articles” where you will place the article for submission. You will fill in the Title Section, Article Body (including About Author), Summary and Keywords. Then choose the “Websites” tab. You can “select all” or pick and choose. Click on “Auto Fill” and it will take you to your first directory. A flaw here is that you can only have one article posted in the article section at a time.

Sounds easy, right? Well with “Article Submitter” you must be very careful. Once you have chosen your Category check each section. This software does not always put the right information in the right box and leaves some boxes blank. Again, if the directories feel you are using software carelessly they will delete your article. The manual sites are just that, manual top to bottom. It took me a full day for each article so it is still a time consuming process.

Then my partner found “Article Submitter Pro” which I just finished testing yesterday. It is by far the easiest and quickest available at this time. Set up is still a bit tedious, once again you have to establish your logins, but only once. And I found them much more accurate in filling in the necessary submission forms. Yes, you still must choose your Category but there is no getting away from that.

They have 780 Article Directories listed but there is a tab where you can mark your “Favorites”. At first I was a little intimated but it is easy to follow and saves you a lot of time. I submitted to over 150 directories in about 4 hours and that was my first time using the software so I was on the learning curve.

A plus on this program is that they have a pop up window that warns you if you have already submitted that particular article to a directory. The directories consider multiple submissions SPAM and you will be deleted. Be careful not to hit the “Next Site Button” until after you have the confirmation that your article has been acknowledged. If you accidentally push the “Next Site Button” the program will record that site as having received your article.

So that has been my experience with these three systems for submitting articles to the Article Directories. I do not recommend hand posting – it is much too difficult. I also don’t recommend the “Automated Article Distribution Services”. A lot of directories refuse their articles.

For me the most convenient and least cumbersome was Article Submitter Pro for getting my articles out there to many Article Directories in the least amount of time.

The Benefits of Submitting Articles for SEO

Saturday, September 9th, 2006

There are millions of businesses in the world. Similarly, there are millions of web sites being used to promote each and every one of them. Some get lucky enough and always appear number one in search engines. However, most get archived in the last places customers will ever look for in a search engine.

Clearly, luck can not be everything when it comes to giving your business the attention it needs. It’s a good thing there’s always SEO. Search Engine Optimization is the only way to go if you want your ads and web sites to stand out in the internet. SEO compliant articles will inevitably hit the right keywords at all times. This procedure comes from the meticulous task of picking out most probable keywords people from all over the world use in search of corresponding services.

Through hitting as many keywords as possible, a certain website raises its ranking in various search engines such as Yahoo and Google. With this higher ranking, customers gain more accessibility to the site. As we all know, it is indeed very rare for people to check out web sites in the latter pages of search results. That is why articles need to be optimized by inserting the words with most hits in terms of customers’ random typing preference probabilities.

Through search engine optimization, a web site will earn higher in the engines and remains there as long as it is kept properly maintained. SEO companies also see to it that their clients are always on top of the results page. As such, you are guaranteed continuing surveillance of your site’s ranking day in or day out. They also have keyword generators which can spare you from the laborious task of assessing which key words need to be hit and which ones are futile to include in the article. It also allows writers to hit the taste of the masses which access the internet.

Companies can now focus writing attractively for the keywords which sell the best. Other services rendered by sites can now be dissolved if the web isn’t showing an interest for it, therefore eliminating deadwood in the business. With this wonderful innovation in web writing, each article will surely be given ample attention in terms of engine optimization and accessibility. The purpose of advertising and syndication will be fulfilled, instead of stagnating in a dark and shady area with abysmally low ranking positions.

E-zine Advertising, An Affordable Alternative To Google

Wednesday, September 6th, 2006

You would like your website to be at the top of the search
engines result page, that way, you can get some free
targeted traffic, and save money on advertising. However,
this has been more difficult than you would like it to be.

Google’s pay per click advertising is an excellent
alternative, except, It can be costly, depending on your
keywords.

There is however, an even better, and affordable option:
E-zine Advertising, that is, advertising in on-line magazines.

Let’s do a comparison: suppose you ran an ad in an e-zine
with a readership of 20,000 and that ad cost you $30.00.and
only 5% of the readers click on your ad which is 1000 clicks
(I’m assuming you have written a compelling ad. If not, no form
of advertising will help!) In terms of cost per click it would
amount to 0.03 cents per click.

But, compare that to a pay per click ad in google or yahoo.
where you would have to bid the highest for the keywords
that will trigger your ad to display before the searcher/
potential customer. Lets say you bid on a keyword like
“exercise equipment,” To get a realistic display you would
have to bid at least 10 cents or more per click (This might
be a conservative price). If 1000 people clicked on your ad
like they did in the e-zine ad. you would pay $100.00 or more
for a pay per click ad in google or yahoo.

Which would you rather pay $30.00 for a e-zine ad or $100.00
or more for a pay per click ad, for the same amount of clicks?

Another thing to consider is this, when you disable your google
ad, the flow of traffic from that source stops. But, when it comes
to e-zine ads, many e-zine publishers archive their past issues.
If someone request an issue from a few weeks ago, and if your
ad is in that issue, that will be additional exposure for your
website without you paying extra money for it. This is not be
done with ppc advertising. Couple this with the use of an auto
responder and you’ll save even more money in the long run.

To make it quick and easy for webmasters to find on-line
magazines to advertise in, “The Directory of Ezines” has a
database of e-zines with a wide range of topics, so they can
find the right one to advertise in for their particular product or
service. If you had to gather this information on your own,
it would take you a very long time.

With stiff competition in S.E.O. and PPC advertising. It’s good
to know that e-zine advertising provides an affordable, targeted
and effective alternative for website owners, and affiliate
marketers to reach more customers and earn more money.

Seo Services….Are they For You

Sunday, September 3rd, 2006

SEO Services line the internet super highway like gas stations. On every entrance and exit ramp seo services shine their bright neon signs hoping to attract attention and get you to stop in and pay.

Sooner or later you will have to stop in and see what they are offering. Some are flaky internet squatters hoping to cash in on your desperation. Others provide a good service for what you pay them. You will stop in because your competition is outranking you in the search engines and taking valuable customers and profit out of your business. How are they doing it and why can’t you do it? Or you are contemplating starting a web-based business and realize there is no point if you do not have a high ranking. Without a high ranking be prepared to spend lots of cash on driving traffic to your site. On the other hand with a number one ranking traffic and customers will find you without you having to spend a dime on advertising. For the beginner with little money to invest it is crucial to get a good position in the search engines. Otherwise you will go broke trying to advertise and driving traffic to your site and in a few months you will have to close the doors.

Well, there is more than one answer to this puzzle. There is no magic code you can put on your site that will instantly transport your site to a number one ranking. Seo services will use multiple paths to get you a better ranking. There is nothing magical about it.

There are two key areas that you will need to concentrate on to improve your website’s ranking. Are you ready? Here they are: Keywords and back-links.

“Keywords” are those words or phrases that your potential customer will use to find you.
“Back-links” are links on other websites that link back to your site.

These are two of the most important areas to consider when using seo services. “Keywords” and “back-links” can be further broken down into other categories. If you have an existing website you might have to reconsider your keywords. For sure you will have to work on your back-links. If you have yet to start your website you will need to spend many hours researching, and choosing your keywords carefully. If you don’t you will fail before you get started.

One more thing. Keywords and back-links are not independent of the other. Rather they depend on each other. Pair them up as a team and you will be way ahead of your competition. You can do it with or without the help of paid SEO Services.
