No one likes to be taken advantage of or scammed, but how do you know if what you are looking at is a legitimate home based business opportunity?  Unfortunately, there is no way to be 100% sure that what you are looking at is a legitimate home based business opportunity, but there are still clues that can help you be more wary and proceed with caution.

If someone is asking you for money, you should question whether or not it is a legitimate home based business opportunity.

Often, their just trying to make money off of your interest.

Also, if the company tells you they hire internationally or globally, they probably have an upline or downline, or a pyramid scheme, and it may not be the type of business for which  you are looking.

A pyramid scheme is illegal, so it is definitely not a legitimate home based business and could even land you in jail.

There are a number of words that should make you think about whether or not the opportunity you are considering is a legitimate home based business.

If the advertisement uses words like downline, upline, powerline, quick, easy, no work, no experience, unlimited income potential, residual income, turnkey, tiers, big money fast, or make money while you sleep then you want to proceed with great caution!  Ask some of the most successful people in the world, and they will tell you that it was hard work that earned them their money.

Most of the advertisements are probably not legitimate home based business opportunities, but get-rich-quick scams that will not reap the results you want.

Check into any company closely before getting involved to find out if they are a legitimate home based business opportunity.

Call the Better Business Bureau and other consumer and business organizations to find out if the company is a legitimate home based business opportunity.

Also, see how long the company has been in business.

It may be a legitimate home based business that has just started up, but they may not be the most reliable company yet.

Watch out for companies that want you to pay for information, to send an SASE, or call a 900 number.

If they are a legitimate home based business opportunity, then they should have enough in their budget to send you information for free.

Calling a 900 number is the same as paying for information, and you should not have to pay for anything from a legitimate home based business.

Article tells the reality of what it takes to suceed with an online business.

Recently, I have been surfing for free credits on my free traffic generator, Traffic Swarm. I never realized how many business opportunities are available. What does a person do to choose one?

First, you need to always take all that hype and read between the lines, although it’s not all that easy to do. I don’t know about everyone else, but when I see all the hype, I’m just plain scared!

I mean, how can I possibly make all the money they promise? And if that is so, why isn’t everyone doing it?

The first thing you need to understand, is you are going to have to invest some money! How much is up to you. You also are going to have to put some effort into your business. And you are going to have to work really hard to get traffic to your website. The website I own comes with lots of educational tools to teach me, step by step, leading me by the hand all the way, to get traffic, therefore sales and money in my bank account.

How do you get traffic to your website? Reality is, most promotion and advertising costs money.

In my experience, Google Adwords provides the fastest results. It can get a little expensive, but you just need to maintain a daily, or monthly budget. And before you start, please get a book or read articles, or all the info you can read on the Google Adwords site before starting. You have to test your ads for a little while and experiment to get to a spot that is comfortable for you. Google Adwords can be addictive, just to watch how many clicks you get is exciting! But, you have to make sure you get people to buy. To get the most out of your advertising bucks, you have to write an ad that is targeted specifically to you site. Practice with this for awhile before going all out with your ad monies. If you have a popular ad, it doesn’t take long to say goodbye to your budget. Don’t misunderstand, you need people to click on your ad, but what you really want is a sale. That’s why it’s very important to target your ad to the right people!

Now back to reality check. If you are in the market to join an online business, please choose one that has been around awhile, and shows great growth potential. Also choose one that has a great training program, with leadership and a great forum so you can learn all you need to know about making your experience enjoyable, educational and successful.

Also, choose a program with minimal start-up and upkeep costs. That way, you can have more of your budget to advertise and promote your website. You will also need to choose one with several different avenues of income, so you can get paid from more than one source.

Another important thing to remember, you will not make a lot of money overnight, or in a month, or in a few months. You will slowly gain and build your business through your work and effort over time. No one should ever believe they will just sign up and instantly make lots of money. It just does not happen that way. However, with diligence, perseverance, and some money and time, you will stand a great chance at succeeding with your online business.

I really have learned so much with my online business. I love to visit the forum and contribute and ask questions when I need help. It’s a feeling of belonging to a wonderful group of people, and we all have a common goal there. I like that I have different streams of income potential. And I love to get e-mail from them, telling me I have just sponsored a new member. And I really love the idea, that in time, I’m going to make real money doing something I enjoy so much!

I am here to bust a few myths about making it online as serious online business owners. Working online or earning an income from an online business is not impossible, if you’re expecting me to say that, you’re wrong. After all, I AM making money online and I would only be saying I am a big fat failure is I said that online businesses are load of….well, a bunch of lies. They’re not.

It’s possible to find an income online, keep a family afloat, feed children, live luxurious lives online. With the growth of the Internet, anything is possible…so, why not making money? In fact, with just the Internet (albeit, a telephone line, a modem and a computer), you can literally not move anything aside from your fingers and make money every single month! And happily too.  

The only problem is that a lot of people are jumping into the online bandwagon expecting to make money the next week, the next month or the next three months. The ludicrous claims by unscrupulous netpreneurs who claims that they can help people may tons of money (along the lines of six figure incomes) instantly doesn’t help much either! Oh, I’ve had my fair share of mistakes. Took in and lapped everything up, swallowed hook, line and sinker a couple of times. I am sure there are many successful netpreneurs today who would admit that they fell for quite a few scams themselves before and LEARNT FROM IT.  

Well, here are a couple of online business facts for you to digest:- 

1. There is no instant money on the Internet

Now, think about it, on the Internet, everyone is faceless. You don’t know the seller, can’t see the seller, can’t even hear him/her and the only way you know that POSSIBLY someone human is behind all of this is the fact that your email was answered. As an online shopper, would you part with a single precious dime for anything that they say they can deliver without proof? Without testimony that this business is legitimate and won’t run away with your money the moment you click the ‘pay now’ button? 

Nothing. There’s absolutely nothing that guarantees you that the business is legitimate. There’s nothing to assure you that they’re send you whatever they say they’ll send you. So, it’s a business that is loosely based on trust, recommendations from others, honesty and professionalism. And believe you me, to build the kind of reputation for your online business will not take hours. It may take even years! 

2. A website takes work

With a website, yes, you have a shop online that many people from all around can visit and buy stuff from. But your domain name and the visibility of your website plays a huge role in the success of your online business. how do they find you if you don’t advertise – and free advertising is possible. The problem is doing it and waiting for IT to happen, to hit your website and to bring willing-top-pay customers to you.  

That’s where search engines come into play. You have work hard to helping search engines and directories index your website. Even when you’ve submitted your website URL to all the search engines you know, it’ll take months for them to even list your website. And then there’s the issue of ranking. There are millions upon millions of sites, what makes you think they would want to list YOUR website as the top 10 or top 30 websites for your favorite keywords? 

Getting to the top of search engines take work and some ingenious planning. While it’s possible, it takes time.  

3. Recommend a friend online business

Some viral marketing businesses DO work – this I have to say and they work pretty quickly too. But the fizzle out really quickly too. So, the moment you’ve made your money, like gambling, you have to look for a new one. Not much consistency and reliability there, is there?  

The wonderful thing about these viral marketing businesses is that if you want to make a huge chunk of money one time off to start a business or pay off a loan or something, you could try this one out. To feed your kids from month to month, you might want to find something more consistent.

How to take the profits generated from a successful home based business and invest them in real estate property for maximum income and gains.

Understanding market cycles

Now, you’re most likely aware that property markets are cyclical – this is because there is a direct correlation between the underlying price of real estate in relation to individual buying power.  Simply explained: when property prices rise above what first time buyers can afford to pay the market slows down, stagnates and sometimes readjusts – but as soon as purchasing power increases again, either with a drop in interest rates or an increase in GDP, so property prices begin rising again.

Both types of property investment return you a regular income and at the same time the physical real estate asset will grow in value over the long term and if ever you wish to release the profits from your investment you can sell on the property and take the gains you have accrued.

Investing in real estate for profit

The alternative to building up a property portfolio for income generation purposes is purchasing property and selling it on relatively quickly to realize the gains the asset has accrued.

You can do this in a number of ways…firstly you can purchase run down property in need of renovation, tidy up the property and turn it into a home before selling it on at a higher price and reaping the profits gained.

Alternatively you could seek to beat the curve by buying into up and coming areas, waiting for prices to boom and then selling on for profit.  This is quite a risky strategy for a first time investor as timing the market is hard!

An alternative to this is looking overseas for the latest emerging property markets worldwide and buying properties to renovate or properties off plan and then flipping them on for maximum gains in the short term.

Financing your investment

As a self-employed individual it can be tricky to get a mortgage unless you have audited accounts, bank references etc., etc.  If you don’t have all of these requisite documents there are other options available to you.

The main options are re-mortgaging your primary residence and releasing the equity that you have accrued already for reinvestment in another property project or taking out a self-certification mortgage where you make a large down payment and basically tell the lender how much you can afford to borrow!

A winning attitude

You’ve already proved you have what it takes to succeed against the odds by establishing a profitable home based business, now apply the same steely determination to your real estate investments and you will succeed in making the maximum gains.  Start small, begin gently, test the market and your understanding of it and slowly build up a profitable real estate portfolio from the profits of your home based business for maximum financial gain.
